TJ McDonald NorthStars - Weeknight Division V Jul 24, 2017 - 1 Game NorthStars vs. Snipers on Monday, July 24, 2017 NorthStars: #6 TJ McDonald - Automatic/Minimum 1 Game Suspension for Hockey Canada Rule 8.2 Cross-Checking Game Misconduct Penalty Offence The GoPro high definition video of this incident from the Hockey Canada Certified Official was video reviewed with our professional video software frame-by-frame, video sharpened, vocals raised, dB gained, and zoomed in 400%. At 3:55 of the 2nd period as per the high definition video: -As per the high definition video the NorthStars #6 TJ McDonald and Snipers #19 Austen Zaremba line up for the centre ice face-off after the Snipers goal -As per the high definition video the NorthStars #6 TJ McDonald takes the face-off on his backhand -As per the high definition video the NorthStars #6 TJ McDonald then pushes off with his right skate and lifts up his left leg and skate completely off of the ice as he skates directly and powering into Snipers #19 Austen Zaremba while cross-checking him high above the normal height of his shoulders with enough force to cause him to fall down completely onto the ice -As per the high definition video the NorthStars #6 TJ McDonald was assessed the Automatic 5 PIM Cross-Checking Major and the Automatic 10 PIM Game Misconduct by the Hockey Canada Certified Officials as per Hockey Canada Rule 8.2 Cross-Checking Section B -As per Hockey Canada Rule 8.2 Cross-Checking Section B: (b) Any player who strikes an opponent above the normal height of his shoulders with a cross-check shall incur a Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty, whether or not injury results. Hockey Canada Rule 8.2 Cross-Checking (a) A Minor penalty or, at the discretion of the Referee, a Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty shall be assessed any player who cross-checks an opponent. (b) Any player who strikes an opponent above the normal height of his shoulders with a cross-check shall incur a Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty, whether or not injury results. (c) A Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty shall be assessed any player who cross-checks a goaltender while he is in his crease. (d) A Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty shall be assessed any player who injures an opponent as a result of a cross-check. (e) A Match penalty shall be assessed any player who deliberately injures an opponent with a cross-check. 4m. (as of Oct 1, 2007) Any player who receives a game misconduct will receive a minimum and automatic one game suspension. There is an automatic and minimum one game suspension per game misconduct penalty. As an example if a player receives two game misconduct penalties the player will receive an automatic and minimum two game suspension. A longer, season, multi-season, or permanent suspension may result at the sole discretion of the officials. No refunds will be issued. A minimum suspension may not be appealed. Fine: 0 PIM: 15 |
