As per the High Definition Video at 9:49 of the 2nd period: -As per the High Definition Video the Purple Haze goalie #31 Kyle Rainaldi is facing the end boards as he backhand passes the puck off of the left corner boards to Purple Haze teammate #15 Kelly Bagley -As per the High Definition Video the Pylons #17 Jay Martens is skating towards the back of the Purple Haze goalie #31 Kyle Rainaldi -As per the High Definition Video after the Purple Haze goalie #31 Kyle Rainaldi passes the puck away the Pylons #17 Jay Martens with his left leg and skate takes out the back right skate of the Purple Haze goalie #31 Kyle Rainaldi from behind, Slew Footing him, and causing him to fall down backwards onto the ice -As per the High Definition Video the Pylons #17 Jay Martens was Automatically assessed the Automatic 5 PIM Match Penalty which is Automatic for a Slew Foot while Moving/Skating by the Hockey Canada Certified Officials as per Hockey Canada Rule Hockey Canada Rule 7.4 Tripping Section (B): "(b) A player who slew foots an opponent shall be assessed a Double Minor Penalty and Game Misconduct if he is standing still while committing the foul. Should the player be moving (skating) or if an injury results from the infraction, the player shall be assessed a Match Penalty. A Match Penalty shall be assessed to any player who attempts to injure or deliberately injures an opponent with a slew foot." Hockey Canada Rule 7.4 Tripping (a) A Minor penalty or, at the discretion of the Referee, a Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty shall be assessed any player who trips an opponent. If injury results, a Major penalty and a Game Misconduct penalty shall be assessed. (b) A player who slew foots an opponent shall be assessed a Double Minor Penalty and Game Misconduct if he is standing still while committing the foul. Should the player be moving (skating) or if an injury results from the infraction, the player shall be assessed a Match Penalty. A Match Penalty shall be assessed to any player who attempts to injure or deliberately injures an opponent with a slew foot. (c) Where a player uses his stick, knee, hand, foot, arm or elbow in any manner or falls or slides along the ice directly in the path of the puck, causing the puck carrier to trip and lose possession of the puck, a penalty shall be assessed. (d) When a player in control of the puck on a breakaway in the neutral or attacking zone is tripped or otherwise fouled from behind and thus prevented from having a clear shot on goal, having no other opponent to pass other than the goaltender, a Penalty Shot shall be awarded to the non-offending team. Nevertheless, the Referee shall not stop play until the attacking team has lost control of the puck to the defending team. 4d. (as of Sep 20, 2009) Any player may be assessed a match penalty at the sole discretion of the officials. Any player who is assessed a match penalty will receive a suspension at the sole discretion of the officials. A first match penalty offence will result in a minimum five game suspension. A second match penalty offence within the same season will result in a minimum season suspension. A longer, season, multi-season, or permanent suspension may result for any match penalty offence at the sole discretion of the officials. No refunds will be issued.
